Position Summary
Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based
on the personnel requirements of the University's academic programs
and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its
teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship
activities.
Detailed Position Information
The Counselor Education program at the University of Alabama
invites applications for a Visiting Professor of Counselor
Education with a start date of August 15, 2024. This is a
nine-month, non-tenure-earning position with a contract of one
year.
Responsibilities:
* Teach core course work in the master's level and doctoral level
counselor education program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
and School Counseling, with a course load of 4 courses per fall and
spring semester. Course reductions are possible for service
responsibilities related to practicum/internship supervision.
* Fulfill service roles in the program, department, and
college.
* Provide academic advisement for master's level and doctoral
graduate students in the Counselor Education Program.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
* Earned doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision
from a CACREP accredited program by August 2024;
* Licensure (or licensure eligible) as a professional counselor in
Alabama or certification (or certification eligible) as a school
counselor in Alabama;
* Evidence of effective teaching and supervision experience;
* Demonstrated experience providing counselling services to varied
populations;
* Demonstrated evidence of commitment to supporting underserved and
underrepresented populations in alignment with accreditation
requirements in the field of counseling.
