Our Civil Group offers an array of exciting career opportunities for the best IT, energy, logistics and engineering professionals.--The Antarctic Support Contract (ASC), under Leidos, is seeking a strategic Risk Manager who understands the impact of a well-run, and effective Risk Management program.This position will be part of the Mission Assurance Directorate, and will be an advocate and champion of the risk framework and policy - driving awareness, adoption and execution with internal and external clients. Organization, programmatic evaluation, and integration with all Functional Areas as part of the Risk and Opportunity Management (ROM) process at ASC is critical to the success of this role. The objective of the ROM is to continually and proactively identify, assess, handle, and monitor risks and opportunities for the ASC, in support of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). A successful ROM system improves contractor performance, ensures proper allocation of resources to areas requiring the most attention, and provides a forum for personnel to suggest potential cost savings, schedule changes, error reduction or elimination, and improvements in quality or safety.Key responsibilities for this role include:

• Chairing the ASC Risk and Opportunity Management Board (ROMB)
• Encouraging participation by all ASC employees and USAP participants
• Reporting Risk and Opportunity R&O status and priorities to program stakeholders (NSF, Leidos senior management, program personnel, etc.)
• Executing the day-to-day ROM process to ensure R&Os are identified, assessed, managed, prioritized, documented and communicated properly and regularly
• Maintaining the enterprise-wide R&O registers
• Supporting the Project Director and Mission Assurance Director in reporting R&O status to stakeholders
• Coordinating the ROMB and facilitating ROMB meetings
• Conducting R&O training, interviews, and brainstorming sessions to increase awareness of the ROM process and to identify potential R&Os
• Reporting ROM metrics and reports to NSF and Leidos Management and monitoring of third party vendor contracts
• Providing input and/or assistance to the Continuous Improvement processRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field and 8+ years of experience; OR Additional, related experience will substitute on a year-year-for-year basis.
  • 5+ years of professional risk management experience in property, liability, and workers' compensation, (must have exposure to all three areas,) in a large, self-insurance setting; OR Additional, appropriate education will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Ability to take initiative to solve problems in an innovative manner
  • Ability to partner with internal and external ASC organizations
  • Leadership and vision across multidisciplinary groups
  • Excellent reasoning, investigative, analytical, and problem solving ability
  • Excellent facilitation, presentation, and communication skills, both written and oral

    • Interpersonal and relationship building skills
    • Experience supervising professional and support staff
    • Strong time and project management skills, including prioritization and multi-tasking ability
    • Strong attention to technical detail and accuracy
    • Ability to work effectively in both independent and team situations
    • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access), Google Suite, and Risk Management Systems (e.g. Origami), and the ability to quickly learn other software systems.
    • Stronger candidates will be those that demonstrate depth and breadth of skill and ability, through a combination of professional experience and formal training, to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position--PHYSICAL AND / OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: Periodic deployment to Antarctica will be required in this position. This position requires successful completion of the National Science Foundation (NSF) physical, dental, and psychological examinations for deploying to Antarctica. Failure to meet these requirements may result in withdrawal of employment offer or other employment action.
