Director of ComplianceJob Summary: The University of Alabama
System is receiving applications for the position of Director of
Compliance in the Office of Risk and Compliance.Reporting to the
Chief Audit and Compliance Officer, and working out of the System
Office in Tuscaloosa, this position provides leadership, guidance,
and support in establishing and implementing an effective
compliance program that addresses regulatory requirements
applicable to a comprehensive research university and medical
system. This is a hands-on position that liaises with a broad range
of university and healthcare professionals in a decentralized
environment across the System's entities. The Director of
Compliance must exhibit independence and objectivity in reviewing
and evaluating the effectiveness of compliance policies, programs,
processes, activities, and reported issues or concerns. The
incumbent must be detail, action, solution, and results-oriented
and dedicated to continuous improvement.REQUIRED MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degreeExperience in compliance or a
related fieldExceptional interpersonal skills with a proven ability
and track record of working collaboratively, cooperatively, and
strategically across all functions, levels, and departments across

careRESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE
FOLLOWINGSupport, and monitor the necessary activities for
fostering and maintaining a culture of compliance across the System
and its institutions.Assist in coordination of campus and health
system compliance functions and promote active communication and
consistency across the System regarding compliance matters.Assist
in coordination of risk assessments for the System Office
especially relating to compliance riskConvene and participate in
periodic meetings with campus compliance staff, including but not
limited to Compliance Officers, Clery officers, Title IX
coordinators, hotline case managers, and campus police chiefs.Work
closely with risk, audit, legal, academic and student affairs, and
financial offices to support these departments and monitor
system-wide compliance.Support campuses and health system
compliance functions by promoting education, training, and
awareness through collaboration among compliance personnel.Receive
and review system-wide policy submissions and compare against
system board resolutions and federal and state regulations for
compliance in coordination with the Board Rule 108 System Office
designee.Assist in coordinating regular meetings with the Board's
Audit, Risk, & Compliance committee and provide periodic updates to
senior leadership regarding issues of interest and departmental
projects and performance.Monitor departmental webpage to ensure
compliance with federal and state regulations and ensure that page
is transparent and stays up to date with accurate
information.Oversee and manage the operations of the System Ethics
Hotline, which requires maintaining relationship with software
vendor(s), tracking and reviewing incoming incident reports,
supporting the identification of escalation cases or cases that are
an immediate security or safety risk, support the Office of Counsel
in monitoring case resolutions, and providing regular quarterly
reports for Board committees on case statistics and specific cases
of heighted interest.Oversee and manage the conflict-of-interest
(COI) database, including software updates, coordinating annual COI
filings of trustees, senior leadership, and financial signatories,
evaluating COI considerations for trustee meetings and actions, and
support related use of the software by the campuses and affiliated
entities.Assist in drafting and submitting annual Risk Assurance &
Institutional Compliance reports for the Board of Trustees,
presented by the Chief Audit and Compliance Officer.Support
training and educational efforts in support of the System's
compliance and risk management goals, including the development,
tracking and monitoring of System Office employee training, and
other training events system-wide.Note to application: Salary of
