JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Function normally in pressure situations and adapt to frequent interruptions while maintaining a productive workflow.
  • Plan and organize workflow adapting to unique requirements of various natures.
  • Effectively and efficiently perform all aspects and functions of the position within the scope of the Rural Health Clinic and the Tombigbee Healthcare Authority.

    Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or GED minimum
  • Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant program, or other Allied Health Program is preferred. Three (3) years of on-the-job training and experience in a physician's medical practice may be considered.

    Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and ambulate effectively throughout the day in the course of meeting the job requirements.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately for the requirements of the position to be fully met.
  • Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress to set a good example.
  • Must be able to work extended hours if necessary to meet the requirements of the clinic hours or patient demand.
  • Must possess adequate physical and mental stamina to work rapidly and efficiently.
  • Must function independently, have personal integrity, and work effectively with different personnel and agencies.
  • Must possess adequate motor skills and can handle and manipulate patients, supplies, and equipment.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Performs all levels of scheduling from basic to complex. Complex scheduling must be more significant than 50% of time worked and may include, but is not limited to:
  • Procedure Scheduling - Perform duties to facilitate and coordinate the scheduling of referrals to varying medical specialty physicians.
  • Position will be responsible for coordinating multiple appointments across multiple locations and specialties.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Scheduling - Comprehensive clinics with more than one billing provider in which multiple providers across multiple disciplines require scheduling for the exact date of service for a patient. In addition to performing complex scheduling duties more than 50% of the time, employees in this title shall perform monitoring of all referrals for any service to ensure receipt of results and replies to consultations and physician referrals.

    Meet patient needs through a variety of methods, including but not limited to:
  • Answer incoming phone calls and make outbound phone calls, gathering information.
  • Schedule appointments via phone, in person, or via electronic correspondence
  • Coordinate arrangements for patients in other clinics
  • Manage electronic worklists.
  • Manage templates for day-to-day edits and reschedules.
  • Promote and assist patients with information regarding referrals.
  • Verify visit account and insurance information and transfer to Registration if updates are needed.
  • Create records and tracking mechanisms for follow-up on orders/referrals and provide information statistics for the Rural Health Clinic.
