Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Nurse in the Operating Room with specialty in Neuro/Spine surgery. This role offers a guaranteed 36-hour workweek with day shift hours and on-call weekend coverage, providing a balanced schedule for professionals seeking focused surgical nursing experience. Location Positioned in Pelham, AL, this role is part of a modern medical center known for its comprehensive surgical services and advanced equipment, including Cerner EMR systems. The unit supports 24 beds with a 1:1 patient ratio, ensuring attentive, high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Provide perioperative nursing care in the Neuro/Spine specialty, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes during surgical procedures Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to maintain sterile field and manage surgical equipment Maintain accurate documentation utilizing Cerner EMR for all patient interactions Adhere to hospital and departmental protocols, including dress code standards (ceil blue or royal blue scrubs, no fleece, hoods, t-shirts, sweatshirts, or nail polish) Participate in on-call rotation for weekend coverage as scheduled by the coordinator Qualifications & Experience Registered Nurse with at least 2 years experience in Neuro/Spine OR nursing Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Preferred experience includes vascular, DaVinci robotic surgeries, orthopedic, and maxillofacial procedures Detail-oriented and able to work effectively in a team-based OR setting Schedule/Hours Day shift: 0600 1630 Weekend hours: on call, evenly distributed This contract position offers an excellent chance to advance your surgical nursing expertise within a supportive environment focused on specialized care.
