Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:45am to 4:30pm
Job Summary: The Broadcast Engineering Tech Sr. will be responsible
for achieving and maintaining first-class broadcast standards for
the production and transmission of programming for the Center for
Public Television and Radio and for WUOA/WVUA.
Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and two (2) years
of broadcast IT engineering experience; OR an Associate's degree
and four (4) years of broadcast IT engineering experience; OR High
school diploma and six (6) years broadcast IT engineering
experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able
to respond to problems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of
age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report
that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under
the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Management skills. Excellent written and oral
communication skills. Ability to read and understand architectural
drawings and electronic schematic diagrams. Knowledge of highly
complex and sophisticated broadcast and computing software and
hardware equipment. In-depth knowledge of digital and analog
technologies as used in a broadcast environment. Thorough
understanding of broadcast and microwave radio frequency technology
and theory of operation. Proficiency in troubleshooting and
repairing high power, radio and television transmission systems
including transmitters. Understanding of radio and television
production and on-air operations. Understanding of FCC rules and
regulations relative to TV and radio broadcasting and steps
necessary for compliance. General knowledge of all building systems
and knowledge of compliance standards with all related governmental
industry regulations.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with maintenance,
troubleshooting and repairing analog, digital and RF equipment at
the component level. Experience directing others on projects with
adherence to deadlines. Completion of a vocational/technical
program in electronics.
