SUMMARY:

The Chief Engineer is the Engineering technical focal point for overall Product Design and Development execution spanning the Product Development process, and on through product lifetime support. Aligned with a major Product Line, they are accountable for Engineerings execution throughout, and are the technical focal point to enable partner functions (including Packaging, Test, Sourcing, Prototyping, Product Quality, Qualification testing, Apps Engineering) to execute their responsibilities to the agreed-to technical plan (schedule, cost, performance). They are also the Engineering focal point for the technical integrity of the integrated product (ie: top level part number).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establishes and maintains the products technical baseline, working with the Product Line Manager and Systems and Architectures team to define products with market differentiation that meet market timing. Accountable for the definition of product requirements and KPIs and ensuresdevelopment plans are optimized to meet the market needs and can be executed within program schedule and budget. Determines,monitors, and leads optimization of technical priorities (partnering withProduct Line Manager) to meet cost, schedule, and performance throughproduct release. Ensures proper technical Risk and Opportunity management. Ensures risks arecaptured and appropriate mitigation plans are defined and being executedacross functions. SupportCustomer meetings as appropriate, and as a Product Line technical anddevelopment execution lead. Refine program priorities and communicate topartner functions if/as needed. Participate in product benchmarking (with Prod Line Mgr and System Architect) toidentify competitive advantages and development needs. Participate in product roadmap definition (with Prod Line Mgr and System Architect) todefine plans to implement competitive advantages into our futureofferings. Maintainworking knowledge of industry standards as relevant to your product line.Participate in standards development as appropriate. Encourage robust solutions through a diversity of opinions and approaches. This isto encourage innovation at multiple levels and identification ofimprovements at all levels. Working with the Product Design Managers and partner functions, identify ways toapply lean to reduce our time to market, including improved design tools, prototyping capability, test development and product development deliverables Enhanceour overall Design to Cost focus, working with partner functions and treating product cost as a full specification that needs to be met Identifyand pursue advanced development efforts that will advance productperformance towards a market leading position. Inform technical roadmapsand coordinate new technology requirements and inputs as needed to implement, with identified product dependencies. Identifyopportunities for continuous improvement of standards and drive problemsolving activities at both product and system levels. Partneringwith Design Engineering Managers and System Architects, drive execution ofadvanced development efforts for your product line to deliver capabilityto Product Development. Workwith fellow Chief Engineers to identify common improvement efforts to improve product integrity, development time-to-market, and development cost. Developand mentor upcoming employees.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Broad technical knowledge in RF Engineering and Product Development, with expertise in one of the following: Systems Engineering, Design Engineering (devices, components or modules), Product Engineering, Applications Engineering or technical Product Line Management. Knowledge of the Broadband market, including OEMs, major hardware suppliers and Broadband systems and sub-systems. These include but are not limited to CATV, DOCSIS, Optical, Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC), Fiber to the Home (FTTH), Consumer Premise Equipment (CPE), CBRS, and Passive Optical Network (PON) Direct experience serving the Broadband market and its customers through hardware products. Executive Level Communication: Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with all levels of management and individual contributors on the program team. Proven written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
Previous Engineering leadership position at a senior manager or director level
