Description

B&W is looking to hire a highly motivated, energetic and seasoned Senior Business Analyst / Project Manager (Sr. BA/PM) to join our Information Technology team. This hybrid role will initiate, define, and deliver prioritized, cost conscious, customer-focused and data driven information technology IT initiatives aligned to further the strategic goals and objectives of B&W.

Key responsibilities of this position include diligently collaborating and aligning in a highly matrix organization across domestic and international locations, utilizing B&Ws prescribed solution development lifecycle methodology and processes, gathering and analyzing business requirements, defining and aligning project scope, developing order-of-magnitude estimates relative to budget and schedule, and passionately leading successful project execution and delivery with a sense of urgency and credibility.

To be successful, the Sr. BA/PM must be able to foster productive relationships with B&W business and IT leaders to carefully understand business needs and requirements, develop and drive cost effective solutions supported by value-driven business cases, balance competing demands across multiple initiatives, and quickly adapt and drive project plans to meet changing priorities while achieving the defined project goals and targeted business value.

Project Intake High-level Scope, Cost & Business Value

  • Provides leadership by adhering to B&Ws IT standard intake policies, processes and documentation guidelines
  • Formalizes business needs into a formal prospect request document and ensures stakeholder alignment and sign-off
  • Collaborates with business and IT teams and required third parties (vendors/consultants) to develop high-level solution options and estimated costs (software, hardware and services)
  • Drives project business case development and approval by partnering with business and IT team members

Project Delivery - Scope, Plan and Initiate

  • Establishes the project charter, business and functional requirements including external designs and business rules, Test Strategy and Implementation Strategy that ensures alignment with approved scope the business and IT sponsors
  • Develops the project plan with direct input from stakeholders and technical resources. Details the work break down structure, critical path, resources and effort. Ensures stakeholders are committed to the plan through proficient knowledge of an effective Organizational Change Management.
  • Defines and communicates required project team roles and resources. Collaborates with IT leadership to staff projects with the appropriate composition of internal and external / contractor resources
  • Establishes and maintains project budget; capital hardware, software, and labor; expense labor and non-labor in compliance with B&W Financial policies and IT Methodology.
  • Develops communication strategies with stakeholders and project team. Defines, sets and manages the appropriate project governance, including cadence, communication, reporting and change management.
  • Develops risk management plans; identifies risks and develops respective mitigation and contingency plans

Project Delivery - Execute and Control

  • Manages employee, contractor and supplier deliverables to ensure the project is completed on time per the baseline schedule
  • Establishes and manages the project budget; tracks effort and green dollar spend; correlates actuals and forecast to the plan, this includes an understanding and execution of vendor management activities; including contract management and vendor relationship.
  • Manages quality of the deliverables. Ensures all requirements have been validated and user acceptance tests have been developed, approved and executed to successful completion prior to cutover
  • Leads communications with key stakeholders. Monitors and reports on schedule and budget variances. Ensures all communications related to implementation are completed
  • Documents and proactively drives issues through resolution; escalates to B&W leadership as necessary
  • Continually manages risk to reduce impact or likelihood of occurrence. Maintains strict adherence to B&Ws Risk/Issue/Change control processes relative to variations in project scope, schedule and budget
  • Develops and manages the implementation plan including production verification. Manages issues at go-live and through warranty period

Project Delivery - Closure

  • Ensures sign-off on all major system deliverables by stakeholders
  • Delivers smooth transition to operational support teams
  • Leads and documents lessons learned with all pertinent stakeholders; reviews missed estimates with IT Leadership
  • Ensures all invoices are received and processed; aligns final project budget workbook with Finance team (capital and expense)
Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree in Business Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

2. Combined 15+ years of experience:

  • Business analyst / Project Management in a global manufacturing company
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
  • Defining, managing and implementing complex / cross-functional projects in a global IT environment
  • Leading and delivering multiple projects with proven ability to align with senior executives
  • Managing projects with combined business process change enabled by new technology deployments
  • Demonstrated competence using MS tools, including MS Office products, MS project and Visio
  • Building relationships and networking, including strong cross-cultural communication skills
  • Effectively managing project team members globally - internal and external (vendors and contractors)

3. 5+ years of experience:

  • Demonstratedaptitude for dealing with rapid decision making and changes
  • Managing Microsoft cross-domain migration projects (Active Directory, Exchange, O365)
  • Project management for a company merger, acquisition and/or divestiture

4. Project management certification preferred

5. Excellent analytical, problem solving and action-driven competencies

6. Strong leadership qualities and a passion for leading high-performing project teams in a matrix environment

7. Business Analysis

  • Works closely with B&W business and IT leadership teams to identify business requirements
  • Determines best practices and develops actionable insights and solution recommendations for current business operations, risks and issues
  • Performs advanced business analysis using various techniques (statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining)
  • Ensures projects align with defined technology roadmaps and business strategies
  • Partners with the business to develop business cases
  • Leads and drives the technology aspects of project related vendor RFIs and RFPs

8. Project Planning

  • Builds and maintains a project plan in MS Project; effective WBS, critical path (duration, dependencies and successors), resource assignments/availability, effort (hours), Gantt and resource usage views are accurate and used, timeline, baseline
  • Includes effort required to mitigate risk as well as that required to complete the defined deliverables
  • Makes use of multiple approaches to quickly resolve conflict

9. Financial Planning and Management

  • Consistently tracks and measures actuals to plan and forecast to identify potential issues. Project manager needs to track to +-10% of the forecast
  • Regularly tracks resource effort and progress against target project deliverable dates
  • Compares the actuals to committed; identifies and communicates potential issues to IT Leadership - either above or below budget
  • Drives and manages vendors to deliver on commitments - hardware, software and services
  • Identifies the appropriate composition of vendors to achieve a successful project delivery
  • Identifies the risks and actions needed to mitigate the risk and act in the event of realization
  • Documents a risk management plan and updates regularly based on actions taken
  • Identifies the risks, rates their probability and impact, develops action plans to mitigate and defines contingency plans should the risk be realized
