Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who
serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral
Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly
activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral

interests. Individuals holding these positions are to conduct
research with various faculty members on a variety of projects.
The University of Alabama seeks applications for Postdoctoral
positions. Successful candidates will hold terminal degrees and
demonstrate a record of academic achievement in a research area or
areas covered by the College. The College and or hiring department
will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations.
Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon
demonstration of research productivity.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: PhD required in
Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Computer Science,
Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Microbiology or relevant discipline.
Preference will be given to candidates with previous research
Skills and Knowledge: Applications must have a passion for
science and competence with scientific research, manuscript
preparation and disseminating research results. Responsibilities
will include mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants
with developed scientific writing skills.
