Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary: The Assessment Specialist is responsible for data
searches, data retrieval, analyses and reporting from campus-wide
data depositories to facilitate and support university planning,
policy development, and operations.
Additional Department Summary: The Assessment Specialist works in
the Department of Strategic Planning and Assessment. Oversees
administrative, logistical, and technical needs to advance
strategic planning, assessment, and continuous improvement
initiatives. Works closely with Student Life departments and campus
partners. Supervises undergraduate and graduate student assistants.
Assists the Director in creating a culture of evidence based
evaluation and improvement throughout the Division of Student Life.
Provides training and development workshops, data warehousing, data
analysis, data reporting, and other related activities.
Responsible for completing required training and promoting a safe,
hospitable, and respectful workplace.
Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree and one
(1) year of experience in strategic planning, qualitative or
quantitative data analysis, or higher education administration.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to communicate complex issues in
non-technical terms with a variety of constituents. Ability to
listen to client needs and identify methodologically sound
approaches for data collection and analysis to facilitate
documentation of success in key departmental, divisional, and
institutional metrics. Data management skills. Excellent
communication, organization, and writing skills. Ability to work
effectively with multiple stakeholders. Ability to master software
and applications quickly.
Demonstrated commitment to expand multicultural knowledge,
awareness, and skills as evidenced through: demonstrating self
awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating
knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with a
diversity of people; fostering equity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications: Terminal degree in higher education,
statistics, business, or other relevant field with an emphasis in
statistical, qualitative, or quantitative research methods.
Experience using quantitative or qualitative research techniques.
Experience running research through SAS, SPSS, or STATA. Experience
with analytics and data visualization. Experience with designing,
implementing, and analyzing organizational efficiency and
effectiveness. Experience with Qualtrics research suite for data
collection or Tableau for data visualization.
