Position: This position is located at Department of Defense
Education Activity, HQ Americas Southeast Facility Maintenance
Custodial Branch, at Maxwell AFB, Montgomery, Alabama. Certificate
requirement: Musts submit a copy of a Chloro-Fluorocarbon (CFC)
certificate with application package for consideration. Failure to
provide a copy of a CFC licensure/certification with application
will result in ineligible rating. Responsibilities Cleans, adjusts,
and lubricates equipment. Perform operational checks on commercial
air conditioning and refrigeration units. Creates estimates for
major repairs documenting extent of repair required. Perform
inspection of equipment to ensure compliance with safety and
regulatory requirements. Review written work orders to perform
upkeep of buildings to repair or replace defective wiring, light
fixtures, and outlets. Repair roofs by replacing shingles or making
repairs to composition roofing. Use tools common to a variety of
trades such as: hammers, tin snips, pipe wrenches, planers, and
flaring tools. Repair or replace defective wiring, light fixtures,
and outlets. Perform operational checks on commercial air
conditioning and refrigeration units. Requirements Conditions of

Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n)
Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. To meet
the screen out element, applicants should document experience or
show the ability to do the following: replace and repair air
conditioners; refrigeration; and electrical equipment; perform
corrective and preventive maintenance for necessary carpentry;
heating equipment; plumbing; sheet metal; painting; gardening; and
ground maintenance work; perform safety checks and vehicle
preventive maintenance, to service records and accident reports -
Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an
ineligible rating. Certificate requirement: Musts submit a copy of
a Chloro-Fluorocarbon (CFC) certificate with your application
package. Failure to provide a copy of a CFC licensure/certification
with application will result in ineligible rating and no longer be
consideration for this position. You will be evaluated on the basis
of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability To Do
The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes
blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise,
artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate
physical activity is required in intermittent lifting and carrying
of repair materials and tiring working positions are encountered.
The work requires considerable standing and walking. Work requires
climbing, stooping, and working in cramped places. Major duties in
PD show Drive trucks up to 10,000 pounds GVW capacity to transport
supplies, and equipment to and from work site or delivery site.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Tasks are performed inside and outside. Hands
become soiled by contact with tools, materials and equipment.
Gloves and safety goggles are worn occasionally when using power
tools. Unpleasant odors are encountered occasionally. Inside work
areas are sometimes damp and drafty or subject to inadequate
ventilation. Incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises during repair
operations. There is danger of injury from falls from ladders or
roofs. Education Additional Information Selection is subject to
restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system
for displaced employees. Salary is based on the local prevailing
