Apply now.A Brief Summary of This PositionThis is an individual contributor position responsible for performing most functions of the preventive and repair maintenance, basic electrical, electronic and mechanical work for the Tuscaloosa Utility plant. The Maintenance Mechanic 15 is also responsible for the repair and maintenance of both mechanical equipment and the structural of the establishment to sustain material production. This person is responsible for recording labor and materials used on each repair and provides some guidance, instruction and training to the operators.Essential FunctionsLearn multiple aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance throughout the shopMust be able to read a multi-meter and have familiarity with 480 volts.Must have some experience with bearings, be able to troubleshoot and aid troubleshootingBe able to perform Electrical Installation, Machine Inspection, and various mechanical and electrical repairsMust be able to write work orders and understand PM scheduleHave a general knowledge of how to trouble shoot issuesAssist a mechanic or electrician in associated repairs and maintenance workMaintain an incident log of all equipment and structural repairs both weekly and monthlyMaintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job.Make management aware of any training needs you have. Support and obey laws that prohibit discrimination.Conduct business on behalf of the Company in full compliance with the laws of the many jurisdictions in which we operate.Important Details about the RoleKnowledgeable with plant equipmentBe able to cover for the Lead when outKnowledgeable with basic testing, troubleshooting, disassembly, inspecting, precise measuring, repair and re-assembly of all plant equipment and components with limited instructionIdentify and report equipment abnormalities and safety hazardsMust be company tested and authorized to operate a forkliftAssist in general plant clean up and housekeepingThis position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and has no direct reportsRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experienceElectrical and Mechanical certification requiredThe ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions in EnglishProficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookCommunicate problems or needs to departmental supervisionCommunicate and interact with coworkers in a professional mannerPay attention to detail and follow work instructionsHigh awareness for safety with the ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work in a non-temperature controlled environment, as well as with exposure to outdoorsAbility to lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 30 poundsAbility to be company trained and authorized to operate powered industrial trucks, aerial platforms and bridge cranes in arc flash safety, confined space entry, hazardous energy control and fall protectionAbility to spend 75% of workday standing or walking, 10% bending or kneeling, 10% stooping, and 5% climbingClimb and work from ladders, aerial platforms , bridge cranes, and roofs in excess of 80 feetMust be able to distinguish colorsThe ability to work one (1) to two (2) shifts of overtime per week, as neededMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional resultsHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These QualificationsActively pursuing an Associates or Technical degree in Industrial Maintenance or related fieldThe ability to interpret and fabricate components based on basic blueprints or specification sheetsOne year of experience with basic troubleshooting pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systemsOne year of experience basic welding/fabricating metal structures/componentsClimb and work from ladders, man lifts, bridge cranes, and roofs in excess of 80 feetWork in adverse conditions: wet, hot, dusty, dirty or coldBenefitsValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and familys overall wellness needs are met.
