Microbiology Lab Technician

Job Description:

Schedule Training will occur Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00. After training, the shift will be either Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday from 06:30 to 17:30. Principal Accountabilities The major activities or end results necessary to fulfill the position requirements on an ongoing basis include: Environmental Monitoring: Monitoring of Classified Areas using active/passive air sampling methods and RODAC/swab surface sampling methods for the detection of bacteria and fungi. Using CliMet air sampling methods for the detection of Total Particulates, trending of this data to detect anomalies, and characterizing the transient and resident microflora. Utilities Testing: Testing city water for total microbial count and the absence of enteric organisms. Testing pre-treat water, clean steam, and Water for Injection for total microbial count and presence of endotoxins. Testing nitrogen and process air for total microbial count and total particulates. Utilizing classical microbiological methods for the identification of microorganisms. Performing validation activities such as biological indicator recovery, bioburden rinse/swab, endotoxin rinse, and endotoxin challenge vial testing. Data analysis and entry into software systems such as Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS). GMP Documentation: Documenting test results and conclusions in a GMP manner. Ensuring test forms are complete before submission for approval. Ensuring responsibilities are performed in compliance with quality systems. Adhering to all company safety, health, and environmental policies, procedures, and directives. Conducting all laboratory activities in a safe manner by using MSDS to establish chemical hazards, observing appropriate laboratory procedures, and reporting all incidents that could threaten the safety of laboratory personnel.
