A specialized Behavior Specialist or ABA Therapist position is available at a K-12 school in Bessemer, AL, serving a 1:1 student caseload. This contract role supports a 6th-grade student with mild to severe behavioral challenges, requiring focused attention and a male aide due to the student's specific needs and preferences. This opportunity offers a structured schedule from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, with a full school year commitment. Key Responsibilities: Provide individualized behavioral support and interventions based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles. Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors using CPI or equivalent techniques. Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to foster the students development and maintain a positive learning environment. Maintain detailed documentation and participate in prescreening activities as required. Qualifications and Experience: Active or inactive Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification, or proven experience in ABA Therapy. Completion of CPI training or an equivalent de-escalation certification (certificate must be provided). Ability to pass fingerprinting through the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE). Experience working with students exhibiting mild to severe behavioral challenges. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with both students and involved parents. Location: Onsite position based in Bessemer, AL, within the public school setting.
