Job Description Job Description Electrical Engineer - Manufacturing (Detroit Metro) Full-Time | On-Site | Confidential Client I'm partnering with a long?established, growth?focused manufacturing organization in the Detroit metro area seeking a sharp, safety?minded Electrical Engineer with strong experience in medium? to high?voltage industrial environments . This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast?paced plant operations, enjoys hands?on technical work, and wants to drive meaningful improvements in equipment reliability and power distribution systems. About the Role You'll serve as a key electrical authority within the plant-supporting production, maintaining power systems, and driving continuous?improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams to ensure that electrical infrastructure, equipment, and processes meet safety, performance, and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Support, troubleshoot, and maintain medium? to high?voltage power systems , including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, distribution panels, substations, and large industrial motors. Lead electrical design and modification of plant equipment, power systems, and automation?related hardware. Provide technical guidance on electrical safety, lockout/tagout, arc?flash protocols, grounding, system protection, and regulatory compliance. Conduct system analyses-load calculations, short?circuit studies, arc?flash evaluations (with internal or external partners). Support equipment installations, commissioning, and validation for new or upgraded machinery. Investigate electrical failures, implement corrective actions, and build preventive?maintenance strategies that enhance uptime and reliability. Maintain electrical diagrams, schematics, documentation, BOMs, and change?control records. Collaborate cross?functionally to support capital projects, layout planning, and energy?efficiency initiatives. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. 3 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong proficiency working in medium? to high?voltage environments (e.g., 480V-15kV systems); comfort navigating substations, power distribution equipment, and industrial electrical systems. Solid understanding of national electrical codes, electrical safety standards (NFPA 70E, NEC), and industrial best practices. Experience with industrial equipment including motors, drives, controls hardware, PLC interfaces, and power?distribution equipment. Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with structured problem?solving tools (5?Why, RCA, fishbone, A3, etc.). Preferred (Not Required) Experience with power?quality analysis, harmonics, or energy monitoring systems. Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical or similar design software. Exposure to automation integration (PLCs, instrumentation, HMIs) in a manufacturing environment. Background supporting capital projects, facility expansions, or electrical infrastructure upgrades.
